Dolores River Festival Recap: https://www.doloresriverfest.org/
The Dolores River Festival brought our community together for a day filled with great music, entertainment, and important conversations about water conservation. With roots deeply embedded in our town, this year's festival left outsiders awestruck, particularly with the story behind this year's T-shirt mascot, the fabled black goat of Dolores. In 2024, water conservation is a hot topic in our region, making headlines almost daily. The festival shone a light on this critical issue while celebrating local artists and musicians. Two stages hosted almost back-to-back hour-by-hour performances from an impressive lineup, including SUPERHEX, THE BURNSVILLE BAND, TWO FACES WEST, LITTLE WILDERNESS, TAYLOR SCOTT BAND, DESIDERATA, PEACH STREET REVIVAL, and EASY JIM.
The unique landscape of Dolores allowed the music to resonate through the community walls, drawing in hundreds of festival-goers. Local businesses showed their support for this cause, and a complete list of supporters can be found through the link above. When the music paused, friends and family mingled from shade tent to shade tent, often discussing water conservation. The festival also catered to those seeking active fun, with river floats—a popular event that typically books up by noon.
Historically attracting around 1,500 attendees, this year's festival drew close to that number, with visitors from out of state and even out of the country. The festival kicked off at 11 AM and concluded with an amazing light show and performance by Easy Jim at 9 PM. Some attendees chose to camp with permits along the river, extending the festivities well past midnight.
The Dolores River Festival has solidified its place as a must-visit event, showcasing what a real music festival is like in Southwest Colorado. For festival pictures and updates on the official video archive site, stay tuned.
I’m Anthony Beadle from the Dolores Gazette, and I encourage any and all to reach out and volunteer an article. I can provide access to those who express a willingness to help the community through writing and journalism. This is entirely volunteer until I secure more funding, and even then, compensation will be per story and for photographs. I want this to work, and I hope you enjoy the years it has taken for me to get here. Thanks for your support.
